Where’s My Droid
Where’s My Droid allows you to hear your phone’s voice even if if the device is put on silent - just type a special, pre designed word and send it to your phone over SMS. You can even set up a word which will make your phone text you back its GPS location and make it much easier for you to find the thief (or hopefully just the person who has accidentally taken it)
Lookout Mobile Security
Even though its main purpose is to protect your phone in a slightly different way (by keeping it safe from viruses and other malware), Look Mobile Security’s relocation features can also help you trace the stolen device. Prey Anti-Theft
A freeware app which, similarly to Where’s My Droid works by letting you lock or track your phone through a text message sent to it. The fantastic thing about the app is that it can work even if the thief removes the SIM card from the phone and it’s also great that you can use it for larger devices (read laptops) too.
Plan B
This is another great app from the creators of Lookout Mobile Security. Plan B’s selling point is that it can be downloaded on your phone even after your device is stolen from you. After you choose it and authorize it on the internet, the app silently downloads and installs on your smartphone and then locates the phone and sends you an email containing info about its GPS location.
